Dispose of a refrigerator by calling your local waste management company or a recycling center to see if it offers a pick-up service or if it requires you to deliver it. Schedule an appointment, and then prepare the refrigerator for hauling. You need an adjustable wrench and a Phillips screwdriver to remove the doors.
Locate the bolts that hold the metal top hinge of the refrigerator doors, and use the adjustable wrench to loosen the bolt. Take the hinge off the door and the body to the refrigerator. Unscrew the screws at the bottom of the door. Place the screws, bolts and hinges in a bag. Set the door aside. Perform these same steps on the other door.
Remove the shelves and dowels as well as the crisper drawers. Place the dowels in the same bag as the screws, bolts and hinges. Ask a friend to help you place the refrigerator on a dolly, and wheel the unit to the curb for pickup or to the truck for hauling. Keep the doors near the refrigerator, but do not reconnect them. Watch for children or stray pets to make sure that they do not get near the unit and knock it over.
