There are a number of natural techniques used to repel bees and wasps without harming them. Bees and wasps are drawn to sweet smells such as honey, fruit or perfume and avoid strong smells such as peppermint or cinnamon. Use these smells to keep bees away from your space and your body.
Since bees and wasps hate the smell of mint, plant a few mint plants around your house or place them on your windowsill to keep them away.
Make a repellent spray
Mix 1 drop of peppermint essential oil or tea tree oil into 1 cup of unscented baby shampoo, and store it in an empty spray bottle. Spray surfaces around your home or garden with this natural bee repellent.
Use a repellent oil
Mix equal parts peppermint oil and water, and use the mixture to dab your hair, wrists, ankles and clothing as necessary. If your pet is often bothered by bees, dab some of the mixture on its neck and ears.
Force bee colonies to relocate
If there is a bee colony in your garden, spread cinnamon around it daily for at least a week. The smell of cinnamon naturally leads the bees to relocate without causing them any harm.
