Rheem products can be purchased through an independent local Rheem contractor, but as of 2015, the company does not manufacture electric furnaces. The Rheem website allows customers to search for local Rheem contractors in their area based on ZIP code.
Rheem produces a wide range of gas furnaces, oil furnaces, heat pumps, air conditioners and other HVAC equipment. Although Rheem does not manufacture electric furnaces, many of the company's gas furnace models use an electronic ignition system to help make the furnace more energy efficient. While many gas furnaces require a constantly burning pilot light for ignition, Rheem's electronic ignition eliminates this need and can result in a 6 percent increase in efficiency. Many Rheem gas furnaces also feature an induced draft blower, which prevents warm air from escaping through the vent. In conjunction with the electronic ignition, this feature can improve efficiency by as much as 20 percent.
Rheem produces approximately 40 different models of gas furnaces, all of which have efficiency ratings equal to or greater than 80 percent. 12 of the Rheem gas furnaces have efficiency ratings of at least 90 percent, with several models having up to a 96 percent efficiency rating. The models with the highest efficiency ratings achieve this in part due to extra insulation inside the furnace cabinet.
