Whirlpool freezers are sold at most major appliance retailers, including Lowes, hhgregg and Best Buy. Visit Whirlpool's website for a complete list of local retailers.
Whirlpool offers several models of upright and chest freezers in a few different sizes. As of February 2015, the smallest chest freezer is $549, and the largest models are $899. A special two-door Sidekicks freezer is available for $1600. Whirlpool chest freezers range from 15 to 22 cubic feet, and upright ones range from 16 to 20 cubic feet. Standard features on most models include an interior light, a security lock and a temperature alarm that alerts you if the freezer gets too warm.
Chest freezers are more energy efficient and hold more food than upright models, but items are difficult to view or remove because they need to be stacked on top of one another. Chest freezers also require more effort to maintain because they need to be defrosted manually. All of Whirlpool's chest freezers have manual defrost, while the upright models offer automatic defrost.
Upright freezers may be less efficient, but they take up less floor space and are easier to access. These freezers are configured like refrigerators and contain shelves and drawers to easily organize frozen foods. The Whirlpool Upright models also feature an LED light, as opposed to an incandescent one, as well as electronic temperature control.
