Some retailers that sell gold-plated flatware are Kohl's, Macy's, Horchow, Bloomingdale's and JCPenney. Kohl's sells a set of Wallace Continental Bead flatware. The 65-piece set includes 12 each of dinner forks, salad forks, dinner knives, dinner spoons and teaspoons. It also includes a tablespoon, a pierced tablespoon, a sugar spoon, a butter knife and a fork for cold meats.
Macy's sells the Oneida Golden Michaelangelo five-piece setting, which includes a dinner fork, salad fork, dinner knife, teaspoon and place spoon. Each piece has an ornate handle made of stainless steel with 18-karat gold electroplate.
Bloomingdale's five-piece place setting from Sambonet is of a simpler and more modern design. The Hart Satin Gold suite is made up of a salad fork, a dinner fork, a dinner knife, a teaspoon and a soup spoon. The gold finish is added by a technique known as physical vapor deposition, which helps make the flatware scratch-resistant.
Another modern set is offered by JCPenney. The Cambridge Everyday Beacon set is made up of four salad forks, four dinner forks, four dinner knives, four dinner spoons and four teaspoons.
Horchow also sells a variety of gold-plated and gold flatware, including a 45-piece baroque service plated in 24 karat gold, a Byzantine 20-piece service (also plated in 24 karat gold), and a 65-piece service by Godinger.
