Before beginning work on a dryer, unplug the unit from the power outlet. For gas dryers, turn off the gas valve at the wall or floor before starting work.

To remove the top panel of the unit, remove the lint filter, exposing two screws. Use a screwdriver to remove the screws, and insert a small putty knife between the front and top panels to release the top. Lift the hinged top from the front, so it is out of the way.

Locate the two screws that hold the front panel in place at the right and left front corners of the panel. Remove these screws, and pull the panel forward while a helper holds the drum in place. Pull the belt forward, off the drum, motor and idler pulley, taking note of how it threads around the pulleys.

Install the new belt around the drum, idler pulley and motor pulley. Replace the front panel and tighten the screws. Press the top of the dryer back in place, and replace the screws from under the lint filter. Replace the lint filter, and plug in the dryer.
