To repair the electronic control board on a dryer, it is typically necessary to remove and replace the existing electronic controls. Refer to the owner's manual to determine the dryer's make and model and to locate the exact position of the control board on the dryer.
Unplug the dryer, and turn the gas to the dryer off if necessary. Open the dryer's top panel with a screwdriver, and locate the control board assembly. Take a photo of the control board with a digital camera to ensure the wires are placed in the appropriate slot on the replacement part, and disconnect the wires connected to the control board.
Remove the control board by using a flat screwdriver to open the tabs located on the corners of the control board, and remove any screws attached to the control board. Set the old control board aside, and touch the dryer body to discharge any static electricity to avoid damaging the new control board. Press the new control board into place until the tabs snap into place, and replace the screws to secure the part.
Reattach the wires by referring to the photo of the assembly. Before replacing the dryer's top panel, remove any accumulated dust or lint inside the dryer. Reassemble the dryer, and turn it on to test the function of the new control panel.
