Spread plastic sheeting along the length of the wall to protect the floor. Turn off the electricity to the room to avoid electrocution.
Mix a wallpaper paste remover with water as directed by the manufacturer. Pour the solution into a spray bottle.
Spray an area easy enough to work. Avoid excessive soaking to prevent the remover from penetrating into the wall. Let the remover loosen the sizing for a few minutes.
Use a putty knife to scrape off the sizing from the wall. Apply moderate pressure to avoid scrubbing the wall. Wipe off any sizing residue with a clean rag. Spray and scrape again until the area is clear, and then repeat the steps for all other sections. Once all the sizing is scraped, clear the plastic sheeting from the floor, turn on the electricity and let the wall dry.
