It is possible to remove urine stains from a mattress using a special store bought product such as Urine-Erase or by creating a solution made from everyday materials found around the house. Both of these solutions are effective on both wet and dry urine mattress stains.
To use a store bought product such as Urine-Erase, mix the powder with water and apply to the stained section of the mattress. Leave the solution to work for at least 8 hours, and then pour the accompanying gentle peroxide over the stained section. This reacts with the stain and evaporates the water and urine leaving behind a small amount of powder that can be easily vacuumed.
To make a homemade solution mix together 10 ounces of hydrogen peroxide, three tablespoons of baking soda and a drop of dish detergent. Pour the mixture into a spray bottle and generously spray the section of the mattress that has the urine stain. Leave the solution to sit for at least one hour or until the urine stain is no longer visible. Ensure the room is well ventilated during this process as the smell created can be quite overpowering. Once the urine stain has disappeared, thoroughly vacuum the mattress to remove any residue.
