To remove a permanent marker stain from clothes, begin by spot cleaning with juice from a citrus fruit. If that doesn't work and the fabric is sturdy, use acetone or rubbing alcohol to remove the stain.
Spot clean by wetting a cotton ball with lemon, lime or orange juice and patting it against the stained area until the stain is gone. If the fabric is a delicate type, such as silk or satin, dilute the juice with water first. Once the stain is gone, wash the fabric immediately. If the stain is still there, wash it first to get rid of the juice and then pat it with a cotton ball soaked in acetone or rubbing alcohol. Do not use acetone or rubbing alcohol on delicate fabrics. Wash the clothes immediately after removing the stain.
