First, apply warm water on the stained area if the stain is still fresh. If the stain is older and has already set into the fabric, then spray it with WD-40 first and then apply warm water.
Apply a de-greasing dish soap that doesn't contain bleach on the stain. If the dish soap used contains bleach could ruin the color of the fabric. One suitable dish soap to be used for this purpose is Dawn.
After applying the dish soap, use a stiff toothbrush to scrub the stained area. Let the dish soap work into the stain, and rinse the area after some time to check whether the stain has begun to fade. If not, repeat step 2 and continue the process until the stain has been lifted.
When the stain has been lifted off the fabric, wash it in the washing machine by using warm water and regular laundry detergent. Air dry the garment to make sure that the stain is gone. If not, repeat steps 1 to 3.
