  1. Create the cleaning mixture

Take your bucket and add 1/2 cup of ammonia. Pour in a cup of laundry detergent and a full gallon of water. Give this cleaning solution some time to mix before continuing.

  2. Apply the mixture to the floor

Wet your mop with the cleaning solution in the bucket. Apply it to the floor. Wait several minutes so that the mixture soaks into the wax and begins to soften it.

  3. Scrub the wax

Scrub the wax vigorously with the steel wool pad. You should be able to remove the wax by applying pressure with the pad. If your pad becomes too clogged with wax, rinse it off in the cleaning mixture.

  4. Rinse

Empty your bucket and fill it with water. Using your mop once more, quickly rinse down the floor. Make sure you cover all of the areas that were covered with wax.
