The experts at Good Housekeeping offer efficient suggestions on removing eyeliner stains from carpeting. To remove from carpet, Good Housekeeping says the following items may be needed: a white clean cloth, dry-cleaning solvent, dishwashing liquid, ammonia and white vinegar.
The first step is to take a clean white cloth and apply a dry-cleaning solvent. Following this first step of the treatment, Good Housekeeping says to blot the solvent, then mix 1 tablespoon of dishwashing liquid with 2 cups of water. This mixture should then be applied on top of the solvent and then blotted. The experts at Good Housekeeping suggest repeating the application of the dishwashing liquid, combined with blotting the stain, until the stain is removed.
Should the above treatment not work, Good Housekeeping says to take 1 tablespoon of ammonia with 1/2 cup of warm water. Next, the ammonia and water mixture should be sponged onto the stain and then blotted until fully absorbed. This mixture should be reapplied until the stain is fully removed from the carpet, and the eyeliner fully absorbed onto the cloth.
If after the ammonia and water mixture is applied the stain still remains, Good Housekeeping suggests a solution of 1 teaspoon of white vinegar with a cup of warm water. The vinegar and warm water solution should be applied onto the stain and then blotted. With this final step, and once the stain is removed, cold water should be applied, says Good Housekeeping, then blotted dry.
