To remove coffee stains from fabric, rinse a fresh stain with cold water or club soda, rub laundry detergent or stain remover into the stain, soak the fabric in cold water, and then wash the fabric as directed by the manufacturer. If needed, repeat the washing process before drying.
- Rinse the fabric
If the coffee stain is fresh, run cold water over the fabric until the stain is gone. Even if the stain is older, rinse the fabric in cold water before pre-treating with a stain remover or laundry detergent. If you have club soda or beer handy, try rinsing the stain with one of these.
- Pre-treat the stain
Rub laundry detergent or stain remover onto the stain, and let it sit for at least three minutes. If the stain is older, soak it in cold water. Every five minutes, gently rub the stain between your thumb and forefinger. If the stain persists after thirty minutes, soak it in warm water for five to 15 minutes. After pre-treating the stain, rinse the fabric thoroughly.
- Wash the fabric
Wash the fabric according to the manufacturer's instructions. Avoid using hot water, which can set the stain. Repeat these steps until the stain is removed before drying.
