To remove candle wax from a tablecloth, freeze the tablecloth, scrape the stained area with a knife, and iron the stained area between several sheets of brown paper. Finish removing the stain by washing the tablecloth according to the manufacturer's instructions.
- Freeze the tablecloth
Place the stained tablecloth in the freezer to help firm up the wax reside on the surface of the fabric. Allow the fabric to freeze for two to three hours, or until the wax is completely frozen.
- Scrape the stained area with a knife
Scrape the wax off of the surface of the tablecloth with a dull knife. Remove as much of the surface wax as possible.
- Iron the tablecloth
Heat an iron to the hottest setting. Place a few pieces of brown paper under the stained area, and two to three pieces of brown paper on top of the stain. Iron the area several times until the oil from the wax is transferred onto the paper. Use a fresh piece of paper if the paper becomes saturated with the oil. An oily spot may still remain in the fabric.
- Wash the tablecloth
Wash the tablecloth according to the manufacturer's instructions. The wax stain should be completely removed.
