Older Keurig models were reliable and had high ratings by consumers, but the most recent Keurig model, the Keurig 2.0, is not as highly recommended. Customers who bought the Keurig 2.0 complain of clogged needles and cracked plastic hinges.
Consumers gave high ratings to the original single-serving Keurig coffee makers but claim that the newer model doesn't live up the high quality of its predecessor. The Keurig 2.0 has an overall rating of two and a half stars out of five on Amazon, while over half of the 533 reviews were one star ratings, as of March 2015. One customer noted that the original Keurig had no problems for 11 years, while the new model suffered from both cracked plastic hinges and clogged needles. Others said the Keurig 2.0 brews and heats coffee more slowly than the original Keurig and just doesn't work as well overall.
The Keurig 2.0 has some minor upgrades, including a "favorite" button and the ability to directly choose the temperature and strength of the brew. The newer model is also able to brew twice the amount of coffee as the original model, which has many consumers angry as well. This means that the new Keurig machine needs a specially sized brewing pod, giving Keurig a monopoly on what coffee the machine brews. Consumers complained about the high prices of these pods.
