There are many recipes for organic pest control that include different ingredients such as garlic, hot pepper and baking soda. To make a pesticide with baking soda, mix 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil, 1 teaspoon of bleach-free dish soap and 2 quarts of water in a bowl. Add 2 tablespoons of baking soda to the mixture, and stir it until the baking soda dissolves.
To make an organic insecticide with hot peppers, cut up 1/2 cup of hot peppers, and puree them with 2 cups of water. Allow the pepper mixture to sit overnight, and then strain the mixture. To avoid burns, be careful not to get the pepper liquid on your skin. Add 2 tablespoons of bleach-free dish soap to the pepper liquid, mix everything together, and transfer the mixture to a spray bottle.
To make an organic insecticide with garlic, remove skin from 1 garlic head, add 2 tablespoons of mineral or vegetable oil and 2 cups of water to it, and puree. Leave the mixture until the next day, strain it, and add 1 tablespoon of dish soap.
Before using homemade or store-bought insecticides, consider how harmful the pests really are, as the sprays kill bugs that are both good and bad for the plants.
