Different Aube programmable thermostats come with pre-configured automatic settings to change the temperature at certain times of the day. Some of them, like the TH106, have settings called Comfort, Economy and Vacation, represented by a sun, moon and suitcase icon respectively. Each pre-set temperature can be accessed easily by pressing its respective icon. The pre-set temperatures can be changed by setting the desired temperatures with the up or down arrows, holding the appropriate icon for three seconds, then pressing the Mode button.

The thermostat may operate in automatic mode on a time scheduler, or it may operate in manual mode. Pressing the Mode button on the thermostat toggles it between automatic and manual mode. The timings of the automatic scheduler are broken into four different periods: Wake, Leave, Return and Sleep. These timings can be changed. For example, on the TH106, one first presses the Pgm button to choose the period, followed by the Day button, then the Hour and Min buttons to set the start time of the period. The Clear button allows a period to be bypassed.

There are multiple models of Aube programmable thermostats, and programming instructions vary slightly. Each model's manual on the Aube website provides detailed instructions on each step.
