A range hood can be cleaned by spraying a degreaser solution or dish detergent and warm water on the inside of the range hood and allowing the solution to sit for approximately five minutes before rinsing. Degreaser solutions and multipurpose sprays can also be used on the filter.
Homemade solutions, such as ammonia and warm water, can be used to clean the inside of a range hood or to soak the filter before scrubbing it with a mild bristle brush. Another option is to spray a vinegar and water solution on the hood and filter to remove grease. The filter should be rinsed with a damp cloth, and the range hood should be wiped down with a damp sponge or cloth. Stainless steel hoods may require a wipe down with a dry microfiber cloth to reduce streaks.
