Some popular grass and weed trimmers (weed eaters) are made by Husqvarna, Core, Hitachi, Black & Decker, GreenWorks, Toro, Tanaka, Poulan, Stihl and Craftsman. Some models are more versatile than others and are equipped with rotating heads or other attachments, however, all are equipped to trim unwanted grass and weeds.
When deciding which model to buy, consider whether you want a gas-powered or an electric-powered engine. Gas-powered varieties have either two- or four-stroke engines and are generally more powerful and more portable than electric-powered models, many of which require a long extension cord that restricts the work area. These corded electric models are generally much quieter, easier to handle and require less maintenance. Battery-powered electric models offer advantages of both models but are generally not as powerful as their gas-powered cousins.
