Tumeric is one popular Indian medicinal, or aryuvedic, plant, with its use dating back 4000 years. Ginger and aloe vera are also widely used and valued plants in Indian medicine.
Tumeric has attracted the attention of western medicine as well, and it is noted to have antibacterial, antiviral, anti-inflammatory, antitumor and antioxidant properties. It also serves as an antiseptic and has cardioprotective, hepatoprotective, radioprotective and digestive properties.
Aloe vera is most widely used topically to help heal wounds and sooth the skin. The pulp from the leaves may also be taken internally to aid digestion. It also has a range of vitamins and essential amino acids.
Ginger is used for it's tonic, stimulant and antiseptic properties.
