Behr's popular wood coatings for decks include its premium line of products: deckover, transparent weatherproofing all-in-one wood finish, and semi-transparent and solid color weatherproofing all-in-one wood stains and sealers. Behr also produces a transparent waterproofing wood finish, transparent oil-base waterproofing wood finish and waterproofing wood protector for use on decks. Behr's waterproofing semi-transparent and solid color stains received high ratings in Consumer Reports' 2014 testing, though Deckstainhelp.com consumer ratings place Behr products mid-way between the best and worst deck coatings.
Deckover, introduced in 2013, is 100 percent acrylic and available in 54 solid colors. Behr describes deckover finishes as slip-resistant and resistant to cracks and peeling. Behr's premium transparent weatherproofing finish, also 100 percent acrylic, is said to protect new and slightly weathered unsealed exterior deck surfaces for up to four years after application, according to manufacturer's instructions. Behr's waterproofing transparent wood finish protects deck surfaces for up to two years; its waterproofing wood protector only for one year. Behr's semi-transparent weatherproofing wood stain and sealer, which adds a coating that highlights the natural grain of the wood, protects deck surfaces for up to six years and is available in 60 colors. The related solid-color product, with 1,600 color choices, is said to protect deck surfaces for 10 years.
