To install a gas dryer, an individual needs a shutoff valve, pipe wrench, dryer installation kit, stainless steel connector, sealant and thread lube. Before purchasing the gas dryer, it is important to check that the outlet in the laundry room suits the requirements of the appliance.
After turning off the gas supply to the house at the meter, it is time to take the cap off the supply pipe coming into the laundry room using a pipe wrench. The dryer installation kit should contain the directions for setting up the gas connection.
Applying thread lubricant to the stainless steel connector precedes attaching the connector to the pipe and finishing connecting the dryer gas lines. Mixing water and liquid dish soap in a 1:1 ratio and putting it into a spray bottle provides the right solution to spray on gas connections to check for leaks. Any bubbling is a sign that a leak is present. The next step is to tighten the connections further and test again. Connecting the flexible metal hose from the back of the dryer to the air duct allows ventilation. Plugging the dryer into the electrical socket and turning the gas on are the last two steps.
