Palace Purple coral bells, or Heuchera micrantha "Palace Purple" are a perennial with shiny, maple-shaped leaves that range from olive drab to purplish-bronze with a deep purple underneath. Like most heucheras, Palace Purple coral bells tolerate shade, but the intensity of the leaves' color improves with a little more sunlight.
Palace Purple coral bells are suitable for gardens in zones 3 through 9. They grow to a height of 1 to 2 feet and spread 1 to 1.5 feet. In the summer, this variety produces flower-scapes that grow to 20 inches tall with sprays of pinkish-white flowers. These flowers attract hummingbirds and butterflies to the garden.
