Northeast Woodland Training and BC Forest Safety offer chainsaw training courses. Other organizations that provide such training include the U.S. Forest Service and the Forest Industry Safety & Training Alliance.
The Forest Industry Safety & Training Alliance offers four chainsaw training courses. The introductory course offers basic training for individuals with little or no experience using chainsaws. The second and third courses in the series cover intermediate concepts such as tree-felling strategy, wedging, notching and removing tree limbs. The final course offers advanced training in hazard evaluation, release cutting and precision felling techniques.
Northeast Woodland Training also provides a four-course chainsaw training curriculum. Topics covered include basic safety, maintenance, tree limb removal, tree felling and harvesting.
