Odd Lots Furniture was the precursor to the closeout retail chain Big Lots, which has locations across the United States. It was first opened in Columbus, Ohio in 1982.
Odd Lots was launched by Consolidated Stores Corporation. The store was designed to sell furniture and other home goods at bargain prices due to its nature as a closeout retail chain. Three years after its beginnings, Odd Lots made its initial public offering on the American Stock Exchange under the new name of Big Lots, which is the name it goes by today. Since that time, Big Lots has acquired three additional closeout and liquidation stores.
