A top-brand washing machine costs anywhere from about $700 to $1,600 as of December 2014, according to Consumer Reports. The machines that cost less may be noisier and have fewer features than their higher-priced counterparts but are still top brands and do remarkable jobs cleaning clothes.
The higher-priced top-brand washing machines hold more laundry, says Consumer Reports. Some, such as the Kenmore Elite 41073 and the LG WM8500HVA front loaders, allow consumers to transmit data to technicians through smartphones to solve problems. Both machines cost $1,450, as of December 2014. A Kenmore Elite 41472 costs $700 and has a smaller capacity, and the LG WT1001CW is priced at $650 and has the smartphone diagnosis feature.
