Mini dredges consist of compact and portable dredges designed for small dredging tasks, such as removing sediment from small lakes, waste water ponds, dam reservoirs and other water bodies where full-size dredging machines are infeasible. Mini dredges operate best in shallow water.
In addition to removal of sediment built up over time, mini dredgers function as a water-based construction excavation alternative to backhoes and other large machinery.
Dredgers pump sediment from the beds of waterways and deposit the sediment elsewhere, usually on land or into removal containers. Common uses of dredgers include ensuring the navigability of waterways and increasing the water storage capacity of a lake or pond.
