Warranty terms for microwave manufacturers differ from company to company, though in most cases the touchpad is covered within the first one to three years of purchase. Some longer-term parts warranties may not cover the touchpad in subsequent years, however.
Most microwave manufacturers warranty the entire device for one to three years after the initial purchase from defects in parts and labor. However, problems with a microwave's touchpad that occur from misuse or accidental damage may not be covered. In addition, extended limited warranties often only apply to certain parts of a microwave oven. For example, Maytag's extended 10-year warranty for microwaves only covers the driver motor and magnetron of an oven, as of 2015.
