Inglis Limited manufactures Inglis dishwashers under the name Whirlpool Canada, according to Inglis Home Appliances. In 1987, Whirlpool Corporation increased its ownership in Inglis Limited to 71.6 percent; shortly afterward, it introduced a new line of dishwashers. In 2001 Inglis Limited made the official name change to Whirlpool Canada.
The Inglis family began building machinery for grist and flour mills in Ontario, Canada in 1859. In 1946, John Inglis Co. Limited agreed to manufacture home laundry products with the company that would become Whirlpool Corporation. They started their appliance line with washers and expanded to include dryers and dishwashers. In 1972, Inglis manufactured its one-millionth automatic washer and started producing and marketing appliances under the name Whirlpool. In 1973, the company began using the name Inglis Limited.
