Homemade leather cleaner can be made out of vinegar and olive oil with scented oil to make the cleaner have a fresh scent. Paper towels and a small bowl are the only tools needed.
This recipe is a natural and organic formula that is not harmful to children nor pets. First, vacuum and wipe down the item that you are going to clean. If it is a couch, make sure to get in all of the corners and underneath the cushions. Jackets and shoes made of leather should be wiped down to remove any dirt and grime. In a small bowl, add 1/4 cup vinegar, 1/4 cup olive oil, and 10 drops of a lemon or orange essential oil (optional) for an added scent of freshness. Whisk the ingredients together. The oil doesn't mix in, but try to break up the surface tension as much as possible.
Dip a clean paper towel into the cleaner and gently rub a small test area on your item. Let this dry for about 20 minutes to make sure no discoloration occurs. Rub the cleaner in a circular motion over your item. Wipe the excess cleaner off with another clean paper towel. Let this dry completely (about 20 minutes depending on the size of your item). As an alternative, you can also put the cleaner in a spray bottle for even coverage.
