Make a cleaning solution with baking soda and vinegar by combining 1 2/3 cups baking soda, 1/2 cup liquid soap, 1/4 cup of water and 2 tablespoons white vinegar. Place the ingredients in a 16-ounce spray bottle with a cap for a deep-cleaning solution.
The solution works as a bathroom cleaner to cut through mildew and grime, but baking soda and vinegar clean a variety of surfaces. For a clean stainless steel sink, sprinkle baking soda on the surfaces, then scrub with a toothbrush. Afterwards, cover the sink with vinegar-soaked paper towels for about 20 minutes before wiping up the mixture. Use the towels to clean the faucet as well.
For dirty garbage disposals, pour 1/2 cup baking soda down the disposal, then follow with 1 cup of white vinegar and a few ice cubes. Run the disposal, and add half a lemon for a nice, clean smell.
Another simple solution combines 4 cups of baking soda and 1 quart warm water. This works well as a deodorizer and all-purpose cleaner for countertops and for cleaning the interior of the refrigerator.
Adding baking soda to a load of whites in the washer makes the clothes even whiter. One-half cup boosts the bleach's potency and softens the water.
