Before painting the canvas, iron or steam out any creases. Spread the canvas out on top of plastic sheeting because there is a possibility that the paint might bleed through. Keep the canvas as smooth and level as possible. Using a sharp pencil, draw the desired pattern directly onto the canvas. For straight lines, use a straight edge. Line the area for the first color with painter's tape. Make sure the tape is pressed down firmly. Pour the paint into a paint pan for easy access. Apply the first color.
Let the paint dry, then carefully remove the painter's tape. Edge the area for the second color. Apply the paint and let it dry. Continue painting each color in this manner.
Once the painting is complete, touch up any areas where the paint has bled under the tape with a small paintbrush. Let it dry for several hours before applying a thin layer of floor sealer over the entire canvas. Let the paint dry for 24 hours before using the rug.Learn more about Decor
