Consumer complaints regarding Veranda decking material are numerous, ranging from mold and mildew accumulation to scuffing, pitting and warping, and in some cases, premature deterioration and breakage of the boards. In 2009, complaints of boards breaking were so prevalent that The Home Depot removed Veranda decking material from the shelves.
Veranda decking is manufactured from a man-made composite material and is sold exclusively by The Home Depot stores and on The Home Depot website. Since the 2009 recall, The Home Depot has addressed some of the quality issues plaguing its Veranda decking material, improving the product's mold and mildew resistance and offering a 20-year warranty against staining and fading. As of August 2015, however, consumers continued to complain of warping, fading, and mold and mildew issues.
