A Magic Chef ice maker is a countertop appliance that generates ice after the user adds water to an internal storage compartment. MCA Corporation manufacturers the Magic Chef brand, and the ice makers are usually portable models.
Portable ice makers are designed for use at home or special events, such as graduation parties, providing an alternative to ice coolers and traditional freezers. As of 2015, Magic Chef ice makers are available with a 27- to 30-pound capacity and produce about nine to 12 ice cubes in a 7-minute cycle. Most models have a small footprint, taking up less than 1.2 square feet of counter space and ranging from 20 to 47 pounds in size. Depending on the unit, the ice maker can produce ice in two or three sizes: small, medium and large.
Magic Chef units are controlled by a digital touchpad and contain indicator lights to let users know when ice is ready. The units typically have a viewing window over the ice basket, so users can see how much ice is available without opening the lid. The machines usually come with scoopers, and the ice baskets lift out of the main units when users want to serve ice or use it to keep bottled beverages chilled.
