Wood-Mizer has been manufacturing sawmills since 1982. Inventors and company founders Don Laskowski and Dan Tekulve first offered a thin-kerf portable sawmill that allowed single users to produce lumber from logs. Consumers purchased more than 1,300 sawmills in the company's first three years.
As of 2015, Wood-Mizer also sells other equipment, such as industrial mills, blades, edgers, resaws and kilns. Though company headquarters are in Indianapolis, Indiana, dealers are located in many countries, including Ireland, Croatia, Cambodia, Columbia and South Africa. Wood-Mizer became an employee-owned company in 2004. As part of its public service projects, the company sponsors athletes and contributes to a number of charitable organizations.
