As of 2015, 60 LG washing machines have been ENERGY STAR certified as energy efficient. ENERGY STAR-certified washing machines use about 2o percent less energy and 35 percent less water than machines without certification.
LG also manufactures a number of washers that are not ENERGY STAR certified.
The average full-sized ENERGY STAR-certified washer uses 15 gallons of water per load, as compared to 23 gallons for standard washers without certification. Certified models use an average 270 kilowatt hours of energy each year for an average electric bill of $85. The ENERGY STAR label has been available for washing machines since 1997.
