The letters "EBCO" found on certain water fountain knobs represent the name of the water fountain manufacturer EBCO Manufacturing Company. The company, based in Columbus, Ohio, produced water coolers and pressurized fountains in the 1930s under the EBCO name and adopted the brand name "OASIS" in the 1940s.
Due to the popularity of the OASIS products, the company changed its name to Oasis Corporation in 1996. Acquired by Patriarch Partners in 2005, the company changed its name once again to Oasis International in 2010. As the style of drinking fountains evolved, the turn-knob was replaced with a push-button mechanism. Public drinking fountain use has declined over the years in favor of water coolers and individual water bottles.
