Lalique birds are decorative glass bird sculptures made by the French designer René Jules Lalique or by the modern glassware company that bears his name. Birds produced by Lalique have a distinctive impressionistic look, made up of soft curves and minimal detailing.
Lalique made many different glass items during his career, including vases, ashtrays, paperweights and dishes. He also crafted a variety of animal sculptures. However, birds were one of his favorite motifs, and in addition to sculptures of parrots, lovebirds and cranes, Lalique also decorated many of his functional glassware items with engravings of birds. Bird designs still appear on a number of items produced by the Lalique company as of 2014.
