Full Answer

KitchenAid has been in the home kitchen market for more than a century. The company was purchased by Whirlpool in 1986, and KitchenAid became a part of the Whirlpool brand lineup. Currently, Whirlpool manufacturers most of the KitchenAid appliances, including dishwashers, refrigerators and freezers.

In 2009, Whirlpool also acquired the WC Woods company and kept at least one of its plants open to manufacture refrigerators, freezers and trash compactors. Another company, In-Sink-Erator, also produces some garbage disposal parts for KitchenAid.
