Full Answer

The American Standard Silver Series of heat humps, furnaces and other heating products are generally the least expensive models. However, the price also depends on the level of efficiency, as most series contain multiple models with various levels of efficiency. The Platinum Series models are the top end of the line and contain more expensive models when compared to the other two series.

As of 2015, American Standard produces three Platinum Series furnaces, three Gold Series and six Silver Series models. The Platinum Series is available in 80 or 95 percent efficiency natural gas models as well as an oil fueled model, the Platinum XV oil furnace. The Gold Series is available in one 80 percent efficiency model and two 95 percent ones, while the Silver Series is available in three 80 percent, one 92 percent and two 95 percent ones.

The efficiency of the furnaces is measured in annual fuel utilization efficiency, with the higher percentage models being much more fuel efficient.
