Who Makes Kenmore Washing Machines?

Kenmore washers are made by Whirlpool and Frigidaire. Top-loading washers are made by Whirlpool and front-loading machines are made by Frigidaire. Sears owns Kenmore but doesn't make any appliances. Kenmore appliances are made by other companies and rebranded.

The first Kenmore branded appliance was a washing machine sold by Sears in 1927. Kenmore's small and larger home appliances are sold only by Sears and its subsidiaries and are made by companies such as GE, Whirlpool, Electrolux and Bosch, as of 2015.

Richard Sears started selling watches in 1886 to supplement his income and later hired Alvah C. Roebuck when he opened his first store in Chicago in 1887. The company was named Sears, Roebuck and Co. in 1893.
