As of 2008, Kenmore offers repair of recalled microwave ovens sold between January 2000 and December 2003. The series of recalled microwaves contains a faulty door switch that can overheat and pose a fire hazard.
Kenmore has listed 22 microwave models that are part of the recall. Since the faulty products were originally sold by Sears, that company is handling the repair or replacement of recalled items. The recall affects a series of combination microwave and convection oven units, but only the microwave has been identified as a hazard. The lower convection oven is still safe to use. Approximately 92,000 units are affected by the recall.
