To install an automobile's power window regulator, remove the interior door panel, speaker and window; disconnect the old motor and regulator assembly; and install the new unit. The only tools needed are a screwdriver and a set of Allen wrenches.
The process for removing the interior door panel can vary depending on the vehicle make, model and year. Typically, the panel will be attached by a few screws and possibly some retaining clips. Don't let the panel drop because it has electrical connections that could be damaged. Disconnect the wiring attached to the power window and door controls.
Next, disconnect the wiring attached to the stereo speaker mounted inside of the door and remove the speaker, which is usually attached by a couple of screws. Support the glass window from the bottom edge and gently slide it up and out of the door. Put it in a safe place so it does not get broken.
Unplug the wires connected to the window motor. Remove any screws or clips attaching the motor and regulator assembly to the door and lift the unit out of the door. Install the new parts and reassemble the car door in reverse order of the disassembly.
