Full Answer

  1. Access the circuit box

Use the main breaker to turn off power to the electrical box. Remove the screws holding the cover in place. Ensure there is ample space to install the new breaker.

  2. Pull the cable

Install the cable in the attic. Fish the cable into the opening for the new dryer outlet box and into the electrical panel. Leave enough loose wire on both ends to make the required connections and to ensure the wires bend as needed in order to fit into the available space.

  3. Install the outlet box

Locate the box near the dryer, and follow the manufacturer's instructions for installation.

  4. Connect the outlet

Strip the wire, and connect as indicated on the new outlet. Install the outlet and outlet cover.

  5. Connect the power

Strip the wire, and attach to the circuit breaker, the ground buss and the neutral buss. Insert the circuit breaker into the slot. Replace the cover. Return the main to the on position. Connect the dryer, and check for power.
