Indoor ferns are species of leafy houseplants that are especially well-adapted for living in low-light conditions. Some common types of indoor ferns include the Boston fern, which has long fronds and is especially attractive in a hanging basket, and the maidenhair fern, which offers speedy growth and lacy leaves.
To keep an indoor fern healthy, give it access to sunlight from a north- or east-facing window. Keep the temperature of the room between 65 and 75 degrees Fahrenheit. Add water to the soil to keep it evenly moist, but avoid over watering the plant. Give indoor ferns a half dose of liquid houseplant fertilizer once per month from April to September.
