A bedroom can be decorated in shades of blue and white, with the fabric of the headboard and the dust ruffle matching the blue and white fabric on the long, pleated curtains over French windows. An upholstered bench with scrolled arms and a white frame can echo the blue of an ottoman in the bedroom's sitting area.
The pale green-blue walls and ceiling match the fabric shades of the chandelier. Just about everything else in the room, including the rug, the mantle, the upholstered tub chairs, end tables, and lamps or lamp shades, are white. This color scheme gives the room a floaty, ethereal feel.
Another bedroom features stripes. The dust ruffle and the canopy above the bed are striped in white and pink which match the shade of the wall sconce on the side of the bed. The curtains of the arched windows are also striped in what seems to be pink and a pale-olive green. The olive green echoes the fabric of the chair near the bed, while what looks like a sea grass rug is in a neutral shade that matches the walls and ceiling.
A bedroom is dominated by what would otherwise be a busy blue and white wall paper. The pillow sham and bedspread are also in blue and white. There's even a painting whose dominant colors are blue and white. What keeps the color scheme from being too much is a solid wooden chest of drawers at the bedside and its old-fashioned metal hardware.
