An HVAC maintenance contract, also called a service contract, is a contract that a homeowner signs to promise to use a specific company's service in the future. It is a guarantee that the HVAC company is the one to work on that system for all future maintenance, inspections and repairs.
When signing the contract, a set fee is paid beforehand. This ensures ongoing maintenance of the system without further charges. Pay close attention to what is included in the contract, including how often the technician comes out to look at the system and perform maintenance. In most cases, it includes a tune-up and inspection of the system but not major repair work.
