A Hoopsii blue spruce is a Colorado evergreen tree that can grow up to 50 feet in height. The evergreen tree's needles are four-sided and iridescent blue in color. The tree is from the Pinaceae family and thrives in cool, moist soil and direct sunlight.

Hoopsii blue spruce trees are generally able to withstand pollution and are resistant to disease in most cases. However, the trees are not tolerant to heavy infestations of insects such as the white pine weevil and Cooley spruce gall. Spider mite infestations may also hinder tree growth. The Hoopsii blue spruce originated in the central Rocky Mountains.
