There are several types of traps for ridding a home of mice that don't require the hiring of pest-control professionals or using poisons. The most commonly used traps are glue boards, snap traps and live-capture traps.
Glue boards have a scent that's attractive to rodents and a sticky surface that prevents them from escaping. Snap traps have a metal bar that, when triggered by a mouse, snaps down with enough force to trap and usually kill it. Live-release traps are the most expensive home option, but also the most humane, since no harm comes to the mouse, who can then be relocated.
